Bullfrogs & Butterflies

Here is my card for the weekly progressive challenge from Designed 2 Delight (D2D).
Thanks to Faith for the digi stamp.

The digi is colored with copics.  Distressing Ink was used to highlight the quote.  The flower is from my stock as well as the gold brad in the center.  I wanted the colors to come out on the digi so I used the dark colors to add contrast.  The birds in the sky were added for depth in the picture.

You can join us in the progressive challenge each week by going to Delightful Inspirations.  Faith offers a free digi the first week of each month.  If you miss the freebie, you can purchase the digi at Designed 2 Delight to get started.

Definitely a card that screams "SPRING"

Thanks to D2D (Designed 2 Delight) for the digi stamp.

The stamp includes the ladybugs, and flower.  I added the butterflies, quote, and grass that was cut using the "Everyday Paper Doll" cartridge on my Cricut.  The grass is textured with copic markers to add definition.

I am submitting this card for the Delightful Inspirations weekly progressive challenge.  If you would like to participate in the weekly challenges, you can join at Delightful Inspirations.  You can purchase the "Ladybug Balancing Act" digi stamp at the D2D store.

This card was made for the Nana Vickie's Father's Day Challenge at Crafter's Digital Artist Center (CDAC).
Vickie provided the can of worms, net and fishing pole.  Vickie provides digi stamps to use in challenges that last 1-2 weeks.  In the 2 week challenges, the digi stamps are free for the first week. This one was a 5 day challenge to come up with a card for Father's Day or a card for men.

I am starting to branch out with my computer and digital items.  The sky, picnic table, corner embellishments, sun outline, and dark grass are all digital items painted to the desired color I wanted.  All the marker coloring is done with Copic markers (grass, can of worms, net, fishing pole, and sun).

Garden Party

This is my card for the Progressive Challenge by Designed 2 Delight.  Thanks again Faith for a very cute digi stamp.  I made this card 2 times.  On the second card I added green Flower Soft on the grass and yellow Flower Soft in the centers of the flowers.

The card bursts with spring colors using copic markers and copic glitter markers to the flowers, bee and of course the cherry on the cupcake.  The saying is from the Mice Day set offered by D2D at their store for $2.50.  The background blue and green are digital.  I really like using the new version of the digi's D2D is offering leaving the design white for coloring in using digital backgrounds.

Ladybug Bloom

Thanks to Faith and Designed 2 Delight (D2D) for the cute digi this week.

When I opened the digi file up I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it.  I received some new copic markers last week so I figured what the heck, let's see what the colors look like.  The picture doesn't do the colors justice .  The background of the digi is a Florescent Purple with clear copic glitter streaked through it.  I colored the ladybug with the glitter copics

Catch a Bug?

Wow, I was cutting this one short this week.  The weather has finally decided to warm up and I have been working outside in the yard.  Got part of my garden in this past weekend.  And guess what I saw... "Ladybugs"

Thanks Faith once again for the wonderful design from Designed2Delight.

I have to give credit to my daughter Gennifer for the card backing design.  She came up with the circle inside a circle design for a Christmas card she was working on and let me use the template.  This card was a joint effort by both of us.  It amazed me how something so simple became hard to do.  I had a lot of ideas but time was not on my side, so with her assistance, I was able to pull it together.

The purple strips on the front of the card are embossed using the Cuttlebug and then brushed with "Dusty Concord" Distress Ink.  The centers are filled with yellow "Stickles"  My coloring is done with Copics.  The ladybugs are raised with Darcie 3/16" foam squares.

Cuppa tea and scone

Would you like a cuppa tea and scone?

I got this digi stamp from Nana Vic's Digitals which I discovered while doing the Heart Hop with Delightful Inspiration.  Nana Vic has a challenge that is called Vickie's Quickies.  Vickie's Quickies located at Crafter's Digital Art Center (CDAC) under the Nana Vic's group.  Vickie's Quickies are every 2 weeks starting on the weekend.

When I was coloring the digi I thought I would put it on a doily, well I actually punched the lace around the edge of the blue paper and mounted the blue to frame the picture.  I used the dark red to pull out the red in the mums.  Tim Holtz -Tumbled Glass Distress Ink was used to blend in the background to take the harshness off the white Neenah Paper.

I  wanted a sentiment that would pull it all together and "making time for the simpler things ..."seems to fit quite well.

I made this card to give to my mom to remind her that she needs to follow the sentiment.  She has been caring for my dad who is has Stage 4 liver and adenocarcinoma cancer.  His battle with cancer has been 10 years long and his time with us is coming to the end.  So needless to say, there were many tears while making this card.

Now on a lighter note, my daughter and I will be embarking on a journey and we don't know how far it will take us.  We will be preparing for the "Relay For Life" next year.  The relay is a fundraiser for the Cancer Society.  It honors the family members who have lost their life to cancer, survivors, caretakers, and remaining family members.

Our goal will be to man a booth to help with raising money and have a team to do the relays.  Since we both are into making cards, we thought we would use the cards we have already made as well as the ones we will be making.  My daughter is doing the checking with the Angel Policies from the various artists we use digi stamps from.  We are also going to make cookies as well.  We have the cookie thing down since that is what we do for gifts for Christmas each year.

A footnote to the remarks above.  My dad passed away on February 17, 2011.

I have submitted this card for the following challenge(s):

1. Vickie's Quickies - use specific digi

Football with Hambo Hoedown Challenge

Go Team Go!
Thank you Hambo Stamps for the cute football girl digi.
The Super Bowl just finished and the Packs won! - Drats

Thanks to the Hambo Hoedown for the challenge this week.  This is such a cute digi.  I wanted mine to be team generic even though I am a Steelers fan.  I colored the digi stamps with copic markers, applied them to the card stock with foam dimensional squares.  I included 2 more of the bears on the inside of the card on the left side.  The sentiments and additional football are from Recollections Dimensional Stickers from Michaels.  I spent this past week making cards since we were iced in for 3 days and then got 4 inches of snow on Friday.  Some might say that 4 inches of snow is nothing, but in Fort Worth, Texas it will bring us to a grinding halt.  And a lot of people thought the Super Bowl was in trouble due to the weather.  It is suppose to be in the 50's this time of year, not in the teens and 20's.  But hey, maybe our winter is over now (ha ha).  Thanks again to Hambo Stamps for the digi.

Big Heart - D2D Challenge

Card Outside

Card Inside

Love is in the air...

This is my latest card for the Delightful Inspiration progressive challenge.  This week's digi stamp is the freebie for all.  So if you have not joined in now is the time.  The stamp will be on sale at the Designed 2 Delight stamp store after Thursday, Feb 11.

When I saw the stamp Friday morning, I had a bunch of ideas running through my brain.  Since we were still iced in from the storm on Tuesday, Feb 2, I had extra time to play around with ideas and finally decided on this design.  I printed off the stamp to measure 51/2" by 7" on Neenah white card stock and colored it with Copics.  I cut the heart into 1/4" strips and cut away the excess around the edges and colored the edges to match the top.  I spaced the strips 1/16" apart on mounting foam squares onto a cream textured specialty paper from my stock.  The wording is a Glitter Sticker from K&Company purchased from Michaels.

The cream textured paper is mounted on a piece of pink card stock from my stash that was punched with a border along the right edge.  The pink was then mounted onto a piece of white textured card stock for support and to allow the border to show.

The inside of the card is done with Chocolate Glitter Rub-on Stickers from Royal & Langnickel Brush Mfg, purchased from Michaels.

I am entering the card in the following challenges:

2.  Allsorts of Challenges: Wk 89 "It must be Love, Love, Love"
3.  Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge: Challenge #120 "Valentine"

For The Birds Snowman - D2D Challenge - January 28, 2011

Thanks once again to Delightful Inspirations progressive weekly challenge for the cute digi stamp
that can be found at the Designed 2 Delight online store.
Wow what a day.  Woke up at 4:00 am this morning to the Arctic Blast from Canada.  We have been on a down hill slide since last night temp wise.  At midnight it was 32 degrees and it is now 19 degrees with a wind chill of -1. For Texas that is just too cold.  Last time this happened was in 1996.  I want our winters back - only about 2 weeks of winter weather for the whole season.  We started with thunderstorms at midnight that changed to freezing rain then to sleet and finished off with snow by 8:00am.  So I got a "snow day" from work and decided I'd get may card done early this week instead of rushing on Thursday night to get it posted.

I wanted to make my card to used for either a winter card or Valentine card.  I think I did a good job meeting both cards.

I used my Copic markers and Copic Red Glitter pen to color my snowman.  I had colored one in yellows but changed my mind and went with blues.  The snow at the bottom of the snowman is from a Snow Marker.  The falling snow is Frosted Stickles.  The papers are from stock on the shelf.  I used Ranger Distressed Broken China Stickles as a border around the snowman.  The yellow rainbow wave sticker is from a Stickabilities sticker sheet.  The sentiment is from K&Company Valentine Embossed sticker.

Location supplies were purchased:
Copic Markers - JoAnn's online store
Snow Marker - JoAnn's Store - Ft Worth, Tx
Frosted Stickles - Hobby Lobby - Lake Worth, Tx
Distressed Stickle Broken China - Eclectica Scrapbooks & Stamps, Memphis, Tn
Stickabilities sticker - Hobby Lobby - Lake Worth, Tx
Valentine Embossed sticker - JoAnn's Store - Ft Worth, Tx

I am submitting this card for the following challenges:

Big Bear's Gift - D2D Challenge - January 21, 2011

I made a 5" Big Bear card for the Delightful Inspirations weekly progressive challenge.  The digi stamp came from Designed2Delight digital stamps.  When I started out I had 2 printed off the same size and once I colored them with my Copic Markers and Copic Glitter Pens, this is the one that won.  The picture doesn't do it justice.   I was really happy with the texture of browns for the coloring of the bear, it just looks so real.  Like that bear you had as a kid, that you slept with and dragged around by the ear.

I wanted to make a different card this week, so the bear is actually the card.  I mounted it on card stock and cut out around him.  When I went to take the picture he wouldn't stand, so he was temporarily mounted to some black paper to help bring out the colors.  I just realized I have been referring to the bear as a "he" when in fact it could be a "she" because I put pink soled boots on "it".  I guess I'll leave that question to be answered by who ever reads this.

I finally decided to make it a birthday card, but I think I'll do it again only with other colors for different holidays such as Christmas.  The "Happy Birthday" raised sticker came from K&Company - Birthday Sticker Medley.  I think we got it at JoAnn's.  Gotta love that place!

Have a great week and stop in to see what is posted next week.  Guess I need to see what other challenges I can put my cards on.  I stopped by my daughter's blog Crafty Scrappy Momma and she has a laundry list of challenges she posts to.

Love Ya Cupcake - D2D Challenge - January 14, 2011

So, how do you make a cupcake digi from
Delightful Inspirations progressive challenge
 come alive on paper...

Color the cupcake paper liner with really pretty blue Copic markers, frost it with Copic Glitter markers, outline with Lilac Copic marker.  Embellish with i-rock Crystals put on with the i-rock Heat Setting Tool.  Color the candies with bright colors and add a little more Copic Glitter to highlight the lettering.

Find some flowers in your stock and put Stickle Yellow and Brown in the center from Hobby Lobby.  Layer the front of the card with Neenah Paper purchased from Scrappers Boutique that has been brushed with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink, layer that with Stephanie Hunt Valentine paper item #163 "Love is in the Air".  Distress the edges of the card with Chalk Box Chestnut Brown ink and ripple the edge of the card with Cutterpede Ripple blade.

Finish the front with a ribbon of Hearts from Michaels.

On the inside I took the candies and enlarged them and placed on the left side to continue spreading the "love".

Valentine Ewe's - D2D Challenge - January 7, 2011

Wow it's been over a month since I posted a card.  Did not make it back from my trip in time to post last week.
The colors didn't show up to good in the photo for the sheep - took the pic with my iPhone, so I will adjust the picture after I get it posted and reinsert it.  Thanks again to Designed 2 Delight for the digi stamp.

I wanted the sheep in a night setting so I picked a semi dark blue background and put them on a knoll.  I used Copic Glitter pens to fleck the sky with stars.

I colored the sheep with Copic markers.  The hearts are colored with Copic Glitter pens I picked up while on vacation.  The lettering was from stock on the wall in my craft room.  The blue paper was purchased from Scrappers Boutique in North Richland Hills, Tx.
