Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Hope this finds those reading well and ready for another new year.

Well, it has been just about a month since I posted anything.  December was a very busy month for me.  We had family in from California and Hawaii for an early Christmas so when all was said and done, we celebrated Christmas 3 times.  It was good to see the kids and grandkids from California and Hawaii.  Our whole family got together on the 19th and when all was said and done we are now 40+ strong.  WOW!

When my daughter and grandson drove in with me and my son and daughter-in-law flew in making it just before they closed the Cleveland Airport on Dec 26th due to the storm on the east coast arrived it was 23 degrees and 2+ feet of snow in Northeast Ohio.  Today, it is 50 degrees and the snow is melting.  But by Sunday the snow will be back with the cold weather.  I remember why I live in Texas.  The sun has only been out 1 day since we arrived.  I have found myself stepping out the door to catch a few rays when it peeks out from behind the clouds.

I am working the newest D2D stamp while here.  I hope I can get it done to post before leaving Monday to start the trip back to Texas with a layover in south Ohio to visit more family.

Poinsettias - D2D Challenge - December 4, 2010

Once again Designed 2 Delight has given us another wonderful digi to use.  Thanks Faith and design team.

I really liked the way my blush colored poinsettia came out.  I put the silver ribbon in the corner to add some depth to the card.  The centers of the poinsettia's are highlighted with Crystal Stickles (just love 'em) and the center of the red rhinestone has a dab of Red Stickles as well.

Supplies used were:

Card stock for card - private stash
Silver Ribbon - Celebrate It - Holiday Ribbon Boutique - Michael's
Coloring done with Copic Markers
Wording - Fine nub Copic Marker
Red Rhinestones - Michael's
Stickles - Hobby Lobby
I used 3M Quick dry glue to attach the ribbon and rhinestones - Joann's Fabric Store

Cocoa and Candy Cane - D2D Challenge - Nov 25, 2010

Thank you once again Designed 2 Delight for the digi stamp.  This one really starts the holiday season.
I had a mug shaped like this one and had many mugs of cocoa and hot tea in it until it developed a crack inside.  It amazes me how you can never quite find a cup that truly replaces one that you become attached to.  After I colored the stamp with my Copic markers, my daughter Gennifer made the card for me because I was trying to get cookie dough made and in the freezer.  I added the gingerbread people and wording at the top.

I think I'll make the stamp again only incorporate a plate of cookies next to it.  Maybe to set out on Christmas Eve for "Santa" to enjoy.

Materials Used:
Card Stock and papers from personal stock
Gingerbread People from Hobby Lobby Holiday Collections
Lettering - Tiny Type stickers and Nenah White Card Stock from  Scrapper's Boutique in North Richland Hills, Tx

Kaela's Angel - D2D Challenge - November 11, 2010

I really like the digi stamp from Designed 2 Delight this week.  I had a couple of ideas of what I wanted to do, but it has been a crazy week, so time was short so I made the card simple.  I incorporated glitter into the halo, wings, collar, cuffs and wording.  I colored the digi stamp with copic markers.

I am submitting this in the Designed 2 Delight Challenge and the Double Delight with D2D Challenge

Materials used:
Green card stock - DCW Indian Summer Stack from JoAnn's
Blue corners - DCW Holiday Stack from JoAnn's
Stickles - Crystal and Star Dust from JoAnn's
Glitter Rub-on Letters - 231 Legacy Gold from Hobby Lobby
Copic Markers - from JoAnn's

Harvest Basket - D2D Challenge Nov. 4, 2010

Thanks again to Designed 2 Delight for providing the Free digi stamp.  I wanted my card to have more than the harvest basket so I added a corn stalks digi stamp and the word embellishment.  As I was making the card and it was coming together, it started to remind me of when I was growing up on a dairy farm and we would finish with the harvesting of grains and the garden vegetables.  There were years that the harvest was so bountiful that we couldn't give away the extras.  Fall is such a beautiful time in the Great Lakes area.  Living in Texas I miss the changing of the leaf colors, don't get me wrong, we do have trees that change but not in the masses as up north.

I am also submitting the card for the Double Delight Challenge with D2D

Material Used
Yellow Card Stock - Bazzille Papers from Hobby Lobby
Burnt Red paper - Open stock from Michael's
Nenah White Card Stock from Scrappers Boutique in North Richland Hills, Tx
Copic Markers from JoAnn's online store
Give Thanks embellishment - Harvest Crafts from Hobby Lobby

Laughing Giraffes - D2D Challenge Oct 29, 2010

Thank you once again to Designed2Delight for the free digi stamp.

I made this card for my grandson's birthday.  He will be 1 year old in December.
His laugh is so infectious that you just can't help but smile.
My grandson is a very textile child - he explores everything by touch, so the spots on the giraffes are covered with a clear embossing powder that I did not heat completely so the texture is sort of rough rather than smooth.
The giraffes heads are raised for dimension with foam squares.
The coloring was done with Copic Markers.
I am learning more about the markers each time I use them.
The accent on the dark green is Lime Green Stickles.
The saying I took from stock on the wall in my craft room (which use to be my daughter's bedroom)

I am submitting this card for the weekly Designed2 Delight Challenge and the Double Delight Challenge by Designed2Delight.

The items used for this card are from the following
Clear Embossing Powder - A la Mode - JoAnn's
Copic Markers - Copic
Lime Green Stickles - Hobby Lobby
Yellow Ribbon - Celebrate It Narrow Basics - Michael's
Card Stock - JoAnn's

Not Beary Scary D2D Challenge - October 21, 2010

I really enjoyed making this card with the digi stamp provided by Designed2Delight.  The corn stalks are individually painstakingly cut out by hand, but well worth the effort.  I wanted to give the card dimension so I raised the front pumpkin and bear with foam squares.  When I scanned the card, the corn stalks actually blurred a little bit in the picture which allowed the bear and pumpkin to stand out even more.

The coloring was done with copic markers and the black dashed edging is from the Debbie Mumm Harvest and Holiday paper collection from JoAnn Fabrics.

Beautiful Blessings - D2D Challenge - October 14, 2010

This card is dedicated to Jeanette Lister and Barb Wiser

When I started this card I was thinking of Jeanette
my best high school girl friend whose battle with Breast Cancer began June 2009.
Jeanette has climbed up a very long hill this past year.
As she was finishing up her chemo treatments this spring,
her sister Cathy was diagnosed with cancer as well and passed away in April 2010.

I found out on October 18, 2010 that my Aunt Barb
after being diagnosed 9 years ago on Sept, 11, 2001 with Breast Cancer
had passed away on Friday,October 15, 2010.
The last time I saw my aunt was 2 years ago while home
for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.
Aunt Barb was full of life and had the biggest smile
anyone could ever have on her face.
I will always remember her that way.

To me they are all totally awesome women.

I want to thank Designed2Delight for the Digi Stamp.
I again used Copic markers for coloring the stamp.

Merry Christmas Santa Card

This is my first attempt at using Copic Sketch Markers.
I used Christmas Green Flower Soft on the wreath to give dimension.
Santa digi stamp is from the Hero Arts - Four Santa's Digi Stamp
through Two Peas in a Bucket Digital Kits.

I made 4 Santa's and colored them differently to make into card for Christmas this year.
